As a follow-up to my previous article, Senator Ted Gaines and Assemblyman Brian Dahle have introduced a bill in the Legislature that would allow local management and funding for the Kings Beach State Recreation Area to continue. It also provides for the North Tahoe Public Utility District to obtain ownership of the park. The NTPUD has adopted a resolution which states, in part, that the community is ready to accept ownership.
Senator Gaines is hosting a town hall meeting at the North Tahoe Events Center on March 20, from 6 to 8 pm, to discuss this issue.
