Carnelian Bay

Carnelian Bay is on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe halfway, between Tahoe City and Kings Beach.  It is a beautiful community that combines woodsy with lakefront.  It is the home of the Sierra Boat Company which for many years hosted the Lake Tahoe Yacht Club’s annual wooden boat show; “Lake Tahoe Concourse d Elegance.”  This is one of the world’s largest shows for these Old Tahoe style wooden boats.  If you are into boats, this is a must see event.  It is now held in Homewood usually on the first week of August, the same week as Hot August Nights, in Reno, every summer.  Next door to Sierra Boat Company is Garwood’s restaurant – named after a famous brand of wooden boats.  Carnelian Bay also has a very extensive miniature golf course and a very nice lakefront public park.

The homes in this area are a mixture of condominiums, Old Tahoe Cabins, 70’s and 80’s modest vacation homes and more recent custom luxury homes.  Several of the streets offer nice lake views and North Lake Blvd. has some very nice lakefront homes.  Behind this subdivision is National Forest with many hiking, biking, snowmobiling and cross country skiing trails.  This area is about equal distance to Palisades Tahoe and Northstar. Some of the homes are part of the Vista Pines HOA which has access to a double decker pier buoy field and picnic area.

Although they are different neighborhoods Agate Bay, Carnelian Bay, Ridgewood Highlands, Carnelian Heights and Fulton Acres are considered part of the same geographical region for the Home Search.
